ARC syndrome: an expanding range of phenotypes
نویسنده
چکیده
Aim—To describe the clinical phenotype in infants with ARC syndrome, the association of arthrogryposis, renal tubular acidosis, and cholestasis. Methods—The medical records for six patients with ARC syndrome were reviewed, presenting over 10 years to three paediatric referral centres. Results—All patients had the typical pattern of arthrogryposis. Renal Fanconi syndrome was present in all but one patient, who presented with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. Although all patients had severe cholestasis, serum ã glutamyltransferase values were normal. Many of our patients showed dysmorphic features or ichthyosis. All had recurrent febrile illnesses, diarrhoea, and failed to thrive. Blood films revealed abnormally large platelets. Conclusions—ARC syndrome exhibits notable clinical variability and may not be as rare as previously thought. The association of Fanconi syndrome, ichthyosis, dysmorphism, jaundice, and diarrhoea has previously been reported as a separate syndrome: our observations indicate that it is part of the ARC spectrum. متن کاملMetabolic syndrome and different obesity phenotypes in the elderly women population: Iran’s Health System on aging
Background: Current literature has been focused on types of obesity with normal BMI (body mass index), but metabolically unhealthy. This study evaluates the prevalence of metabolical phenotypes of obesity. We also identified the best obesity index in predicting the components of metabolic syndrome (MetS). Methods: A cross-sectional study has been conducted on 164 women over 60 years. Anthropome...

Whole-exome sequencing (WES) has proven its utility in finding novel genes associated with rare conditions and its usefulness is being further demonstrated in expanding the phenotypes of well known diseases. We present here a family with a previously undiagnosed X-linked condition characterized by progressive restriction of joint range of motion, prominence of the supraorbital ridge, audiology ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Lewis phenotypes in patients with psoriasis
Background: It seems that there are similar associated diseases in psoriasis and Lewis (b) negative phenotypes such as diabetesmellitus, cardiovascular events, and metabolic syndrome. Therefore, we decided to evaluate the frequency of Lewis henotypes in patients with chronic plaque type psoriasis. A limited number of studies have been previously conducted in this regard. Methods: Fifty patients ...
